Stalbridge Lantern Parade Workshops
The Parade is on the 1st December meeting at Stalbridge Close at 5.30pm We need everyone to register for 2 reasons...Firstly, so we know how many people are joining the parade, and secondly for Elf and Safety reasons. (if you book a place at one of the making sessions we will automatically register you for the parade) Please note that only lanterns with battery powered lighting can be used at the parade (also for elf and safety reasons!).
Lantern Parade Workshops are free, and take place at the Scout Hut in Stalbridge on Sat 18th and Sat 25th November. Currently there are only morning session places left. Christmas at The Ring
Christmas Celebrations in Stalbridge traditionally start at the Ring, and this year is no exception.
At 5.30pm there will be a Barbecue, with Mulled Wine served while we wait for the Stalbridge Lantern Parade to arrive. They will be setting off from Stalbridge Close at 5.45pm.
At 6pm There will be an 'Interactive Christmas Story', together with traditional Christmas Carols, all led by Canon William Ridding. This popular Christmas celebration ends as always with the lighting of the Lime Tree on The Ring .
So come along to join in and enjoy the traditional start to your Stalbridge Christmas at this special community event on Friday 1st December.
SPOT THE ODDITY
Spot the Oddity Competition involves looking in the shop windows in Stalbridge. In each window is a numbered card. An ODD OBJECT (one which you would not normally expect to see in this window) has been carefully placed. All you have to do is to write down on the competition form what the odd object is. Competition forms will be available to pick up from the Community Information Office in Hub@Stalbridge, Station Road from Saturday 2nd December, when the Hub will be open from 9.30am to 12 noon. You can also fill in the competition form online if you want to use your smartphone to do the competition . The online form will be available to fill in on Saturday 2nd December by clicking on the card opposite. The prize for the winner is a £10 voucher to be spent in participating shops in Stalbridge
PLEASE NOTE: The competition begins on the 2nd December. All entries must be returned to The Hub by Thursday 4th January
Christmas Fayre and Cafe
The Hub@Stalbridge are hosting a Christmas Fayre and Cafe on Saturday 2nd December from 10.00am to 12.00 noon
There will be plenty of stalls from charities and local organisations, so plenty of lovely things to see, and of course a Christmas Cafe will run for the 2 hour fayre ( or until all the cakes run out!)
The following groups have stands: SCARS, Calum Young, Anne Harris (Childrens Charity), Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance), Sandhills , Stalbridge Brownies, & Wincanton Rangers
So please pop in to the Hub@Stalbridge, just off Station Road and support our local good causes.
Christmas Tree Festival & Crafts
Stalbridge Congregational Hall are hosting their annual Christmas Tree Festival on Saturday 2nd December from 10.00am to 12.00 noon in the Congregational Hall, Station Road, Stalbridge.
Christmas Trees Decorated by Local Groups will be on display and there will be stalls, activities and crafts.
MULLED WINE & MINCE PIES WILL BE SERVED!
TEA WITH SANTA
Come and have Tea with Santa at Stalbridge Hall on Saturday 2nd December.
This Family Tea Party is from 3.00pm - 5.30pm. Santa Claus will be arriving at 2.45pm. Tickets costing £1 are available from Williams Florist in Station Road.
There will be a Bar and some great entertainment from Stalbridge 'Home-Grown' talented artistes!
Nativity Fancy Dress! £10 prize for best dressed Adult and Best dressed child.
Please note that due to limited numbers tickets must be purchased in advance.
Elaine Korman and Friends
For 10 years now, Elaine Korman has been presenting a Christmas concert of talented musical artists at the Congregational Church in Stalbridge. This 10th Anniversary concert promises to be a wonderful night of music and entertainment, with special guests Russian Soprano Maria Danishvar, Mezzo Soprano Arabella Heaton, Brenda Clerci, John Turner and many talented young musicians.
The concert runs from 2.00pm on Sunday 3rd December.
No tickets are required. All donations will go to the Ben Tickner Treatment Fund.
Elaine Korman was pianist to the Opera Ballet at Covent Garden until 1966 when she left to undertake coaching and other work in the establishment of a Chamber Opera and Opera Training School in Vancouver. Since returning to England she has been resident with the Opera Ballet at English National Opera. She also takes pupils in piano playing and gives private singing coaching. She is secretary of the Robert Stolz Society.
Since moving to Dorset in 1986 Elaine has worked with Dorset Opera, Sturminster Newton Choral Society, Mere Choral, Wincanton Festival, Stalbridge Players and Sturminster Newton Pantomime.

A new, Family-oriented music festival with Christmas market and entertainment, featuring live bands, Oktoberfest bar, food stalls and entertainment for children comes to Stalbridge this December. The event runs from 4.00pm till midnight on Friday 8th December at Stalbridge Playing Fields. There will be Five live bands, acoustic stage, DJs, children's area, Father Christmas, themed food stalls, Christmas traders and more.
A family ticket is £25 and under 5s are free. All profit from the event will be split between the primary school in Stalbridge and a children's cancer charity - so your ticket money goes a long way. And just in case you are thinking "Isn't it going to be a wash out if it rains?" The organisers have arranged 15,000 square feet of covered, HEATED marquees and tipis for the event and there will be ground protection mats between the marquees.
So book the date in your diary, then buy your tickets, either from Ring Street Filling Station in Stalbridge or from the YuleFest website, where you can find out more info on the event itself.
