The Stalbridge Archive Group invite you to view their display about bicycle maker William Lovelace at The Hub on Saturday 7th April during the Hub@Stalbridge Open Day. The Archive Group are still busily cataloguing our ever-growing collection of historical photographs and documents. We are also preparing the William Lovelace display. He opened a garage in 1911 making bicycles. He also had a charabanc service offering trips to Weymouth and Cheddar. After the Second World War, the Lovelace bus business was bought by Patrick Lewis having returned from serving in the Canadian Airforce. With more modern buses Pat continued to provide trips, he also ran the school bus service to Sturminster Newton which many will still remember. If you have any photographs of those days with Lewis Coaches, we would love to see them. And just a reminder that the first AGM of The Stalbridge Archive Society is tonight Monday 5th March at 7.30pm at The Hub. Everyone is welcome Comments are closed.
