Stalbridge Garden Society produce a monthly newsletter. Here is the December 2018 edition...
Tony Moore, our chairman, welcomed all the members to our Christmas meeting, and gave out any notices. He mentioned that we still needed a hall representative for the Garden Society, Dennis Ketcher very kindly stepped forward, thank you Dennis.
We are also looking for a person to act as show manager. This will include logging all of the entries on the computer, completing the entry cards, and prize cards, helping Carolyn and Michelle on the stage at our Annual August Show. If anyone is interested or knows someone who could help with this, it is just for the show and producing posters and the annual membership cards, please contact Tony Moore our Chairman for more info.
This evenings meeting was ‘bring and share’ kindly organised by Anne Brown. Members helped her with arranging the tables putting on cloths, thank you to Anne and Michelle for arranging the festive table decorations.
The food and drink looked fit for a banquet, with a wonderful array of refreshments. Geoff kindly sorted the drink and distributed along with Tony.
Thank you to all who brought food.
The evening was a quiz night organised by Martin Young a welcomed favourite. We all had a glass of some Christmas cheer, and settled down for lots of fun, it was interesting, informative and funny. Thank you to Martin for this, we all enjoyed it very much.
This was then followed by the lovely spread of food, and Marigold's raffle, with nice traditional prizes, thank you.
Not forgetting Anne, Mary, Ann and all the kitchen helpers, doing the washing up and making tea and coffee, as they do every meeting, thank you!
Thank you to all of our members for keeping the Garden Society going, as this year we lost some long term members. We especially hope Brian can enjoy Christmas with his family.
Next month our meeting is on Thursday 10th January, 7.30 p.m. at the Hall. The topic is ‘SPACE & CLIMATE CHANGE’ with speaker Ian Davies
Do come and join us if only as a visitor to see what we do and enjoy!
Enjoy this festive season, and on behalf of the Garden Society I wish you all a Happy New Year.
