Q: What time does it start?
Q: What time does it End?
Q: What time does the Lighting up ceremony start?
A: At 5.30pm The Lantern Parade will leave the Hub and process via Station Road and Ring Street to The Ring. At 6.00pm the NEW Stalbright sponsored lights for the Lime tree will be switched on for the first time. The audience for this event are asked to assemble around the ring, not on it. This will allow a much better view of the Lantern Paraders, who will be on the ring.
Q: Which roads are being closed and when?
A: Station Road and Ring Street between 5.30pm and 6.00pm
Lower Road and The Cutting between 5.00pm and 7.00pm
Q: Will it be crowded, like last year?
A: This year there is more than twice the amount of indoor space than last year and the event runs over a much longer time, so hopefully not.
Q: Should I wrap up warm?
A: Oh, yes! It is due to be a true Alpine Christmas Event.....somewhere around -1 or 2, so Ski Jackets, Wooly mittens and Ski hats might be a good idea...and add to the Alpine Atmosphere! Why not bring a wooly blanket if you're going to spend lots of time in the Alpine Bar, listening to the Bierfass Oompah Band, although it will be heated!. Top Tip: The more you sing and stomp your feet, the warmer you'll get!
Q: What is going on in each area?
A: The Scout Hut will be hosting stalls from volunteer groups and charities. There are some lovely Christmas gifts to buy, so bring some money for this, so you don't have to nip home half way through the event when you find out what great stuff they have on offer.
The Youth Club is hosting Santa's Grotto: 3:30pm - 5:30pm & 6:30pm - 8pm £2.50 per child.
The Community Hall is hosting The Kids Zone with supervised and organised fun games and activities, so why not pop along straight after school?
The Main Hall will be hosting A Traditional Vintage Tea Room and The Stalbridge Christmas Emporium.
Outside the Hall: The Alpine Village will contain the Alpine Marquee, where the Bierfass Oompah band will be playing from 7.00pm, The Stalbright BBQ, with Hot Dogs and Burgers to warm you up!, and The Lions Alpine Gazebo, with delicious, hot Mulled wine, (also to warm you up!)
And somewhere between 4.00pm and 8.00pm we will be presenting our Special Secret Entertainment! ( you don't want to miss this !)
Q: is there a Fancy Dress Competition?
A: Yes. So turn up in fancy dress and the competition runs throughout the afternoon and evening, for children and adults! Let's see some Lederhosen and lots of Reindeer hats!
Q: Where do we park if we are coming from outside Stalbridge?
A: There is a large car park just off Station Road, and the newly-open Stalbridge Arms (opposite the entrance to the Hall) is offering their car park, and hoping you'll pop in for a drink at some point during the evening. If you're going to do that you'll need to approach the Stalbridge Arms from Jarvis Way, as the Ring will be closed to traffic from 5 - 7pm.
Q: Can I turn up on the night and join in the Lantern Parade?
A: Unfortunately, only people who have registered with the Stalbright Lantern Parade already will be able to join in. Currently there are about 120, so it should be a great parade.
Q: Can we gather on the Ring, like last year, to watch the carol service and tree lighting ?
A: This year the audience will assemble around the ring, not on it. The Lantern Parade will process onto the ring for the service and lighting up ceremony. This will avoid any overcrowding issues and will allow the audience a much better view of all the Lantern Bearers!
