At this time of year some blood donors are unable to give blood due to colds and flu but we still need to maintain blood stocks to meet hospital demand. We aim to collect 36,000 to 40,000 units of blood every week whatever the time of year.
Giving blood is quick, simple and safe. And all that most people feel is the satisfaction that they are helping to save lives. We recommend donors ensure they have eaten a good meal prior to giving blood and do not do any stenuous activity for the rest of the day after giving blood. Most people can give blood. If they are generally in good health, between the ages of 17 and 65. For further information and to book an appointment visit our website www.blood.co.uk or ring 0300 123 23 23 Friday 4th December
