The Church of St Mary in Stalbridge has appointed a new rector! The Revd Canon Richard Hancock will be the new Rector of Stalbridge. Richard is currently Priest in Charge of Sixpenny Handley and Rural Hope Field Officer for Dorset. He will be licensed sometime in late May or early June. Richard will bring the necessary gifts and skills to develop mission and ministry in the town, as well as the experience and enthusiasm for rural ministry. Richard is married to Kate and they have two grown-up sons. We trust his appointment will be well worth the wait!
The Church of St Mary in Stalbridge will be holding a four-week Lent course, starting on Wednesday 9th March from 6.45pm – 8.30pm at Judy’s house (Wynhill, Gold Street, DT10 2LX). We’ll use excerpts from the film “The King’s Speech” and the Bible to explore ways in which fear holds us back and examine how we, like Bertie (King George VI), can face and overcome our fears and begin to find our true voice. No previous knowledge of the Bible or church is necessary, only an interest in meeting others and sharing ideas. Everyone is welcome, it’s completely free, just bring an open heart and mind. For catering purposes please show your interest by contacting Simon Witcomb on 07 989 855 582 or simon@witcombs.co.uk.
