This is a new page on our site, showing you how Stalbridge looked in the old days. We have purchased two maps for the site.....One from 1887 and one from 1962. "Why choose those dates?" you might ask....well the 1887 one shows Stalbridge when the school was it's original size, built in 1871 and none of the modern housing and industrial units existed. The second map from 1962 shows Stalbridge as a modern and much bigger village, but still without the Jarvis Fields housing development, or SpringFields or the new Dikes supermarket or the current hall and scout hut....and the railway was still here! We will be producing side by side maps over the coming weeks to highlight the differences between Stalbridge Then and Now, but in the meantime... Have a look at them and compare Stalbridge!
