Stalbridge Town Council announce an invitation to express interest for the following contracts.
TheHub@Stalbridge, Station Rd , Stalbridge, DT10 2RB. Email: clerk@stalbridgetowncouncil.gov.uk Telephone: 01963 364276 News from Stalbridge Hall. The first meeting of 2023 was positive. Bookings have risen, especially for children’s parties, as the community hall can be hired for £40 and it is an ideal space for kids to run around.
The extension is virtually complete, we are waiting for the finishing touches to be completed then we can start sorting the existing cupboards and organise storage space. This will allow us to store tables and chairs in both halls and the youth club so we no longer have to move furniture around from one hall to the next. The many clubs and societies that use the Hall always request more storage for their equipment, this allows us to accommodate them, and also means that we can invest in new tables, to replace the old heavy wooden trestles, plus purchase and store circular 5ft tables for weddings and parties. The landscaping at the back of the hall is to be completed by the 31st March, this includes building a patio, planting trees, and levelling the ground in order to build the Croquet lawn. We have upgraded the Fire Alarm System; P G Security will have finished installation on Friday 13th January, and this will bring us in line with current legislation. We are also looking at upgrading the CCTV around the hall, there has been minor vandalism in recent months, especially around the Boules courts. We have three quotes for up to 10 cameras, covering all areas both inside and out. For a while now we have felt that we need to become a greener energy facility and would like to install Solar Panels.’ We currently have 2 quotes and decided that more investigations are required. The Hall’s energy bills have risen astronomically; Solar panels will help offset some of the cost. Stalbridge hall is a charitable organisation and relies on booking fees, fund raising and grants for its day-to-day costs, maintenance and refurbishments. We would welcome new committee members, volunteers, helpers, sponsors, and event organisers. Contact Stalbridge Hall by visiting their website below. We currently do not have enough volunteers to ensure that we can fulfil all the requests we get for journeys to local doctor and hospital appointments.
Since the surgery has now closed in Stalbridge, local people need to travel in order to see their doctor and not everyone has transport available to them. These folk rely on the drivers who volunteer their time to take others for medical appointments. Maybe you have a relative or friend in another part of the country who is helped in this way. Please consider whether you might be able to give up an hour or two a week to help out in this very worthwhile way. Petrol expenses are paid and passengers are always very grateful for the help they receive. If you think you could help, please contact Annie or Helen on 07746 100 299 for a chat..
