Our roving photographer Carolyn Roden has been out in the factor 50 parched countryside
"Here are some pix of drought ridden Stalbridge. I was surprised how many dried up plants actually looked quite good in a photo!
Well, we could be forgiven for thinking that we now live in Spain as each morning the sun shines, the temperatures soar and everyone is living in shorts or summer dresses. The earth and plants are having a hard time of it though. Plants that should be thriving have died, dried up grasses give the impression of a long, hot summer (even though we are only half way through!) and birds and animals are struggling to find water. Some love it, some are longing for rain but even when the skies are heavy with clouds, the rain still isn't falling." - Carolyn Roden
