The areas to be patched are at the junction with Station Road and the entrance to Stapleford Court. If you arrive to park before 9am and are leaving after 4pm there is no reason why you will not be able to use the car park. During the works they will do their best to allow access to Stapleford Court depending on the work being carried out at that point. The closure notices are posted at the top of Station Rd and at The Hub. Back in 1997 the office was located in the High Street, next to Evans & Co. There was a public telephone, provided by Dorset Police and the notice board hung on the wall to the right of the main window.
The office has moved twice since it's inception and is now located in the hub@stalbridge, just off Station Road. A lot has changed in the last two decades, but some things remain the same. Original volunteers Joy Rabbets (Hilary Townsend) and Bill Batty-Smith are still volunteering! Come and help them celebrate, along with the current team at the Community Information Office 20th Anniversary event at the hub on Saturday 8th April from 10.00am till 2.00pm. There will be a pop up café and raffle, with profits donated to the Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance, and the Library will be extending their opening hours for the day so do come along and support your local volunteers. This is an early 14th Century ceremonial candle holder used in court by the prosecutor. It was placed in front of the accused, who then had until the candle burned out to protest his innocence. B This is a burial necklace, placed over the head of a pet mouse by ancient Egyptians as part of their pyramid burial process. C This is a Mongol archer's thumb ring, used to avoid thumb injuries when drawing back their heavy bows. Believe it or not the correct definition is 'C'. Unlike other archery methods used today (involving the fingers), the Mongols used their thumbs to draw back their bows. This item reduced RSI from using their very strong bows.
